1. Who We Are

Seering LLC (“Seering,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is the developer of the Threadlytics iOS application and the operator of seering.ai. Our contact information appears in Section 11.

2. What This Policy Covers

This policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share information when you:

  • visit seering.ai (the “Site”),
  • install or use the Threadlytics app (the “App”), or
  • contact us for support.

It does not apply to third-party services you connect through the App (Apple Home, Home Assistant, SmartThings, and others planned). Please review those services’ own privacy policies.

3. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account or contact information (e.g., email address) if you sign up for a waitlist, beta program, or support request.
  • Feedback, bug reports, or correspondence you send us.

Information collected automatically

  • Site: Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URL, timestamp). We do not use advertising trackers.
  • App: Anonymous diagnostic telemetry (device model, iOS version, app version, feature usage counts). No personally identifiable information is included in telemetry.

Smart-home and Thread data

All Thread mesh data, device lists, topology graphs, and ecosystem credentials processed by the App are stored locally on your device. We do not transmit this data to Seering servers. Specifically:

  • Thread network credentials (Extended PAN ID, network key, channel) remain on-device and are handled exclusively through Apple’s HomeKit and Matter frameworks.
  • Device names, room assignments, and ecosystem tokens are stored in your device’s local storage or Apple Keychain and are not uploaded to us.
  • If you use an optional cloud-sync or backup feature (when available), you will be notified separately and asked to consent before any home data leaves your device.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • operate and improve the Site and App,
  • respond to your support requests,
  • send you product updates or release notes you opt into,
  • diagnose issues and fix bugs (using anonymous telemetry), and
  • comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to serve you advertisements.

5. How We Share Your Information

We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: We may use third-party services for email delivery. These providers process data only as directed by us and are contractually bound to protect it.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
  • Business transfer: If Seering is acquired or merges with another entity, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before that happens.
  • With your consent: We will share information for any other purpose only with your explicit consent.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Diagnostic telemetry logs are retained for up to 90 days. If you request deletion of your account or contact information, we will remove it within 30 days unless retention is required by law.

7. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect information we hold, including encrypted storage and transmission (TLS). However, no system is perfectly secure. If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us immediately at the address in Section 11.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App and Site are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your Rights and Choices

All users

  • You may opt out of marketing emails by clicking “unsubscribe” in any email we send.
  • You may request access to or deletion of personal information we hold about you by contacting us (Section 11).

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined under the CCPA. To exercise your rights, contact us at the address in Section 11.

EEA / UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under applicable data protection law. Our legal basis for processing is typically (a) performance of a contract when we provide the App to you, (b) legitimate interests in improving our products, or (c) your consent where we have asked for it. To exercise your rights or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, contact us at the address in Section 11.

10. Third-Party Services and Links

The App integrates with third-party smart-home platforms including Apple Home, Home Assistant, and SmartThings. Additional platforms are planned for future releases. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

11. Contact Us

If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise your privacy rights, please contact us. We will respond to verifiable requests within 30 days.
