Common Questions
What is Threadlytics?
Threadlytics is an iOS app that visualizes your Thread mesh network and smart home device graph. It discovers Thread border routers via mDNS, reads Matter diagnostics clusters, and correlates devices across Apple Home, Home Assistant, and SmartThings into a single unified view. Support for additional ecosystems is planned.
Does Threadlytics require a hub or special hardware?
No. Threadlytics uses only your iPhone and existing smart home infrastructure — no additional hardware required.
Does Threadlytics send my home data to the cloud?
No. All Thread mesh data, device names, topology graphs, and ecosystem credentials are processed and stored locally on your device. Nothing leaves your phone without your explicit consent. See our
Privacy Policy for full details.
Which ecosystems does Threadlytics support?
Threadlytics currently integrates with Apple Home (via HomeKit / Matter), Home Assistant (local API), and SmartThings (OAuth). Apple Home and Thread discovery work out of the box; Home Assistant and SmartThings are opt-in and can be connected in Settings. Google Home, Alexa, and Aqara are planned for a future release.
My device appears twice in the device list. Is that a bug?
Not exactly — it’s a known limitation. Some devices appear on more than one ecosystem fabric simultaneously. Threadlytics uses a correlation engine to merge these into one record, but it requires matching data from both fabrics to do so reliably. If you see duplicates, they may merge automatically as more data is collected. You can also use the debug export (ladybug icon) to send us a diagnostic snapshot so we can investigate.
I don’t see any border routers. What should I check?
Threadlytics discovers border routers via mDNS on your local network. Make sure your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Thread border routers. If your router uses AP isolation or a guest network, discovery will not work. Also check that Local Network permission is granted for Threadlytics in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.
How do I report a bug or send feedback?
Email
[email protected] with a description of the issue and your app version. You can find the app version at the bottom of the Settings screen inside Threadlytics. Screenshots and screen recordings are very helpful.
